I can withstand the test

I can be above the rest

I can place a smile

On my pretty lips

I can laugh like that

If I only tried my best

But these tears & this frown

My apologies, it’s just this

I can hold the weight

I can carry the blame

I could handle the strain

Like only I would

I would take the heat

If only I could trust it

But these tears show me

One person

Can only take so much passion

I can listen to your every word

I can read your thoughts

I can feel your heart

I can fake it

Like I don’t care

Or I can show you

Just everything right here

I can do that

I can take a chance

Even with this

I can turn it all on

Like sunlight at dawn

I can turn it all off

Like a bird’s song

Calling the dead of night

Maybe somewhere in between

Lies all those feelings

The emotions that cloud a mind

The disorder, the Chaos

But that’s just this

I can carry the baggage

Even when it gets too heavy

I can make the plans

Even when I don’t know the path

I can take care of myself

And keep looking

I’ll put up those walls

Patching cracks as I go

What else is there to do

It’s that damn

One day, someday soon

These tears will fall

And I’ll learn

We fall, we stand up

We teach, then, we get taught
